We meet once a month to walk in a different part of the beautiful area we live in, to keep fit and enjoy the other benefits from being out in the open. We like to walk at a fairly brisk pace, whilst still being able to chat and enjoy the views. Walking in East Devon and West Dorset usually involves hills, sometimes with fairly tough climbs and descents, some rough and muddy paths and occasional stiles, so members do need to be fit and active. As a guide, most of our walks would mostly be classed as moderate by The Ramblers.
Most walks are between 6-8 miles, and finish in time to allow you to be back in Seaton by 1 p.m. They include a short break for ‘elevenses’ and there may be an opportunity to stop for lunch at the end for those who wish to. We also try and fit in a few longer day walks with a picnic or lunch stop.
Members of the group are encouraged to lead walks themselves. This adds variety - in area and terrain and also in terms of difficulty and speed. Brief details of each walk are made available to members a week beforehand so you know what to expect.
Start time varies depending on length of walk and expected duration, but generally around 9.30 -10 a.m. We try and car share from Seaton and the Seaton Methodist church allows us to meet and leave vehicles there if necessary.
New members are welcome and so if you feel that this is suitable for you please contact the group leader in advance.
New members are welcome so please contact the group leader or an existing member if you would like to give us a try.
